PLEGMA

Skopelos, Greece

Located on the island of Skopelos, Plegma is a civil non-profit organisation that engages in a range of cultural activities throughout Greece and Europe. Their mission is to plan and implement cultural actions, accessible to all members of the population, with no age, educational, geographical, racial or religious restrictions; thus supporting and reinforcing cultural policy at a local and country-wide level. Therefore, their goal is to engage the public, enabling citizens to become actively involved in cultural events; while cultivating a spirit of collaboration, forming cultural networks, exchanging know-how and providing continuous training to cultural managers. In their work, they mainly focus on cultural management, networking and activities; including the organisation of theatre plays, seminars as well as educational, cultural and touristic events. Plegma has already cooperated with Médecins sans Frontières and was supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education, the National Organism of Tourism, UNESCO Hellas and local entities such as municipalities and local governments. They also won two national awards for its best practices in the cultural field during their dance festival (Best City Awards 2016, Tourism Awards 2017).
