Villa Fabris Bene Comune
Fabris Bene Comune is an urban regeneration project centred on a monumental villa in the small city of Thiene, in the province of Vicenza, Italy. The project began in January 2024 and is led by three non-profit organisations: ENGIM, Coop. Samarcanda, and ALDA.
The aim is to transform Villa Fabris into a place experienced by and for everyone. It is intended to become a space known for the value and appeal of its activities, as well as a welcoming and beautiful environment where people feel comfortable. The villa seeks to work in synergy with the local territory while maintaining connections to the broader European dimension.
To date, the villa hosts a social business in the hospitality sector alongside a for-profit catering business. It also includes two social craft workshops dedicated to people with disabilities, a family fablab for makers and professionals, and a digital corner providing training for unemployed adults. Additionally, Italian language courses are offered for migrants. The European Centre for Local Democracy, run by ALDA, is also based at the villa.
