Educational and cultural centre Broumov

Broumov, Czech Republic

Historically, the Broumov Monastery used to be an important centre of culture and education, not only for its own region, but also for the whole of Central Europe. Nowadays, the Educational and Cultural Centre Broumov is a non-profit organisation founded by the Broumov Region Development Agency. It operates within the premises of Broumov Monastery and its aim is to continue to revitalize the monastery and its historical cultural and educational functions, and to create a respected European institution. They implement cultural, artistic, educational and scientific projects, including interdisciplinary environmental, humanitarian and artistic educational programs, like the Mailwald Academy (environmental education for children and youth). Its programming is aimed at all age categories of the public as well as professionals. Through its activities, it is becoming a pleasant place for meeting, discussion, and inspiration and a symbol of the region's successful development. They strongly believe that excellent artistic programmes should not be the privilege of large urban centres. Thus, the main aim of their cultural centre is to offer a colourful, multidisciplinary year-long program that is geared towards locals as well as larger and more distant audiences. To know more about Broumov Monastery, have a look at its online presentation.
