Divadlo bez domova

Theatre with no home
Bratislava, Slovakia

The main mission of Divadlo bez domova -Theatre With No Home (DBD) is to work with marginalised communities through unconventional and creative forms of expression, using theatre, performing arts, dance, and singing. DBD provides a platform for presenting social topics that are often overlooked in the commercial artistic sphere. By combining the artistic with the social, DBD seeks to challenge and dismantle stereotypes faced by marginalised communities.

DBD was informally founded in 2005 though theatre projects involving homeless people and it was officially registered with the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic in 2006. Based in Bratislava, Slovakia, DBD transformed a once-devastated space into a functioning theatre. This space gives voice and visibility to people that are often excluded, particularly those without homes, individuals with physical or mental disabilities, former prisoners, and others from vulnerable backgrounds.

DBD also organises national and international workshops for students, theachers, professionals, and the wider public. Since 2006, the organisation has hosted the International Festival of Homeless Theatres - ERROR.
