Bitamine Faktoria

Irun, Spain

Founded by the Artitadetó Artists Association, Bitamine Faktoria is a cross-border cultural production and creation factory aimed at promoting and internationalising culture, design and contemporary art. They are strongly committed towards their local territory on the boundaries of Spain and France. Thanks to their cultural projects and support programs for creation, they strengthen the artistic and cultural field of their community. Public space is their field of action. Their fundamental working tools are mediation, participation and co-creation. They think and act from a gender perspective, ensuring sustainability in the use of resources. Some examples of their activities: TRANSBITA (a mobile device to access an interdisciplinary and participatory cultural offer) — KONTENPORANEA (an art gathering created by and for the local art community) — BARRIO CREATIVO (art used as a tool for social cohesion within a neighbourhood)  KBK (an editorial project that draws on themes of frontiers and cross-border "cultural smugglers"; in cooperation with the French artist residency NEKaTOENEa— A TOWN THAT MAKES YOU HAPPY (a project seeking to alter the urban space through contemporary art interventions).
