Centrala Space

Birmingham, United Kingdom

An offshoot of the Polish Expats Association, Centrala gallery has gone onto establishing itself as an internationally recognised centre for Central and Eastern European art and artists. Centrala is the only publicly funded art gallery and venue dedicated to Central and Eastern European art in the UK outside London. The gallery presents an innovative programme of socially-engaged, contemporary art and artists, alongside a diverse range of eclectic events, such as music, seminars, screenings, discussions and workshops. Centrala is a space for people to come together, be creative and engage with the arts, culture, history and politics of Central and Eastern Europe.
Their values are:
— Equality and diversity as preconditions for co-existence and mutual respect,
— Inclusion as a means of preventing individuals from feeling isolated, disaffected or marginalised,
— Collaboration as a tool for building communities and a sense of ownership,
— Communication as a basis for constructing effective, respectful and balanced relationships,
— Integration as a context for celebrating Central and Eastern European culture and tradition within British society.
