Kulturhusene i Danmark

National Association of Danish Cutural Centres

Denmark
Kulturhusene i Danmark is a nationwide NGO that unites the country's many different cultural houses and represent their common interests in politics, organizations, and other relevant actors in order to ensure the best possible conditions for all cultural houses in Denmark. They offer support and facilitate a strong professional community through activities and annual meetings with a focus on knowledge sharing, solidarity, and development. A cultural house can encompass many different forms of participation, and Kulturhusene i Danmark represent a wide range of cultural houses and other cultural platforms. A common characteristic of these houses is that they provide the framework for and initiate cultural activities to support local communities; they strengthen democratic participation and contribute to the cultural movement. Since its foundation in 1987, Kulturhusene i Danmark have embraced that the country's cultural houses are constantly evolving, being operated and utilized in different ways, and that the houses have different meanings for local communities and users.
