Through exploratory research and collaboration with external stakeholders, a project "Sounds of Home" by junior programmer Julia Koenen was developed to embrace intercultural exchange between musicians and audiences. The project takes place at the All Ears Area of Music Meeting Festival - public behind-the-scenes. Rooted in a theme of "feeling at home," the project explores what home means to individuals globally. The process unfolds in several stages through musical improvisation and dialogue.

Julia Koenen's project "Sounds of Home" was developed to foster intercultural exchange between musicians and audiences, enhancing the All Ears Area of Music Meeting Festival. Rooted in a theme of "feeling at home," the project explores what home means to individuals globally. By delving into questions such as "What makes the world a home for us?" and "How does home feel to you?" The project endeavours to unearth shared experiences amidst cultural diversity.

The process unfolds in several stages: 1) an introduction featuring musicians' perspectives on the theme, 2) audience participation live or via online submission, 3) facilitated exchange of ideas, a 4) free improvisation session influenced by audience contributions. The project culminates in a 5) closing discussion, where participants reflect on their shared experience and its impact on their perceptions.

This reciprocal dialogue explores themes of multiple perspectives and artistic interpretation, providing insights into the interconnectedness of diverse points of views. By embracing the richness of cultural diversity and promoting dialogue across boundaries, this project creates a sense of community and belonging within the festival space, enriching both the artistic experience and audience engagement - that breaks the barriers between artist and spectator and creates long-lasting bonds. Everyone is equal in their experience and dialogue.
